Breaking the Acne Cycle

GreatSkin.com

Acne the most common skin disorder in the US – affecting 17 million people, and not all of them teens. From infants to the elderly, 80 percent of the population experiences Acne at one time or another.
When skin cells block our pores, Acne results. Closed pores result in whiteheads, open pores in blackheads. Red inflamed areas occur when Acne bacteria break through the blackhead or whitehead. Most people with Acne experience a combination of these three, not only on the face, but on the back, chest, shoulders and neck as well.
Severe Acne can cause scarring, and often affects our self-image. Stress can play a role in Acne, by stimulating the adrenal glands, causing over-production of hormones. It is a vicious cycle that can leave us feeling stressed and stress in turn can worsen Acne. Skin treatments can help alleviate Acne, but it is important to work on other aspects of your life that contribute to the problem, such as stress. Make a commitment to treatments and home-care in all these areas and break Acne's vicious cycle. If you are ready to breal this cycle you can get$30 Off Acne & Skincare products (on purchase of $200 or more) Enter coupon BTS30

What Our Clients are Saying About:GreatSkin

GreatSkin.com

I had the worst case of melasma EVER!!!I had been to
doctors and tried various products... then I found your website!
I've been using your tretinoin/hydroquinone combo since July
1999.... the results are AMAZING!!! So amazing, that I feel
compelled to share them with you... so I've attached before
and after pics.  The after picture was taken in late November,
3 months ago.... my skin looks even better!!! Many heartfelt
thanks to you all! What an absolute joy it is to face the
world without hiding behind long hair or a ton of makeup.
 I
actually went out without a stitch of makeup for the first time
in years without feeling self-conscious. Thanks again. Please
don't ever remove this product from your line!! --
N. Chell

First
of all, I want to thank you for all your advice and help

that has helped me get control of my Acne.
I suffered for over 15 years, and have gone to dermatologists before,
but none of them ever helped me, and one even made me worse than before.
Your suggestion of topical antibiotic combined with continued use
of the tretinoin and the ortho-tri-cyclen birth control was the very
solution.

I'll tell you what really helped me most
-- was the fact that I was so humiliated and depressed over my Acne
problem that I couldn't bring myself to go to a doctor's office for
that critical analysis and initial information.  When I found
your site, I saw a way for me to get detailed information and help
in an anonymous and non-threatening way.
  I'm also very impressed
with the fact that you keep up with the latest on professional, dermatological
skin care; you seem to keep yourselves up to date and that is so important
in cases like mine where nothing before has ever helped.  There
have been so many advances in the understanding and treatment of Acne,
and until I used your online services, I had no idea about them.

Dear greatskin.com:

I
want to thank all the people at GreatSkin® that have helped me. Everyone
has been no nice, so professional and so informative. I have not once
felt like I was being "sold" a product.
 People have suggested
products. They have listened and have been so kind and so nice.  I
had a problem with the Obaji line and I spoke to someone every week. They
could not have been nicer.  I even spoke to Dr. Van Wormer and he
was great.  It's hard enough to get a doctor to call you when you
sick, at least in California, but Dr. Van Wormer took the time out
to listen to me, make suggestions and was so professional and personal. I
have had a good experience everytime I call to ask a question or talk
about the products. I cannot say enough about GreatSkin. I have been
using the Serum C with B5 and the phytocorrective gel!!! Next I will
be trying the new GreatSkin® Line...  Thank you all so much for
being so pleasant and personal. I will be telling everyone about you!!!
Thanks again. - M. DeRitis

Dear greatskin.com:

From the suggestions from your skin analysis,
I am using the Oceanique and tretinoin in addition to the Obagi cleanser.
My black heads and pores have decreased considerably while using the
products. The breakouts are less often. But most important my skin
is smoother and has a great glow. Makeup glides on and stays "fresh"
much longer. Dr, Van Wormers' suggestions were great! I will
be ordering replacements soon.- S. Gass

Which acne treatment is best for you

There are many forms of acne, which would explain why it is so difficult to treat. I have listed several causes of acne and many of those may surprise you, but I also hope that they will help you discover what causes your acne. For instance, a great many people would likely be surprised to learn that acne is not caused by stress, as they may think, but more likely can be attributed to their fancy new perfume or cologne.
Most cases of light to moderate acne can be treated by over the counter medications. There are many to choose from. Some acne suffers find that benzoyl peroxide or salicyl... (read more)

The Natural Solution to Your Acne Problems
October 11, 2007

Dermatologists encourage parents to seek medical treatment for teenagers with acne and warn against taking a "wait and see" approach. "Many parents are often stuck in the mindset of past generations that nothing can really be done about acne," says Sandra Swanson, a Charlotte, N.C. dermatologist. "They still believe in those old wives' tales that chocolate, pizza, french fries, and their child's hygiene habits are to blame" Dermatologists, however, almost always fail to recommend the safe, natural, and inexpensive treatment that actually cure acne permanently. Using a natural acne remedy... (read more)

Rosacea Skin Care
October 12, 2007

What is rosacea? The truth is that not much is known about rosacea. Dermatologists used to assume that it was closely related to acne but recent studies have shown it to be a condition that changes according to each particular person. As a whole, most people have flushing and red papules and pustules. There are no dangerous health risks associated with rosacea symptoms but they can arouse significant psychosocial impairment. As of right now, there is no unequivocal rosacea cause or rosacea cure. Rosacea skin care treatments can only manage the condition. Estimates guess that between 12 to 1... (read more)
